Welcome to Dakshineswar Domestic Area Durga Utsav'14
Puja 2014 countdown begins.....
The Puja was started in 1949 when a group of enthusiastic people came together and organized the Dakshineswar Domestic Area Durga Puja Utsav on that year. Today we are proud to celebrate a golden 64 years of the festival. We have come across a long journey since 40’s. And like previous years, this year also we are going to organize “Durga Puja” and connecting “Durgotsav” at Dakshineswar, Domestic Area, Near Dakshineswar Kali Mondir/Railway Station, Kolkata – 700 035 in a befitting manner.
Durga Puja is considered to be the greatest festival of Bengalees all over the world. We celebrate this festival with huge enthusiasm. Durga Puja actually depicts the eternal battle of the Gods and demons where good finally wins over evil. The light of goodness destroys darkness. Goddess Durga represents the power of good and saves the world from the spreading darkness of the demon Mahishasur. .
The purpose of celebrating Durga Puja is not only to enjoy the fun of festival, but to encourage the auspicious winning of good over evil as well. We celebrate this festival with wonderful decorations of lights. Creative energy is reflected in the innovative themes and beautiful craftsmanship of the Puja Pandals. Aesthetic indulgence can also be noted in the idols of Devi Durga. Each year some new thoughts are inculcated in the limited five days of this festival. All of us wait eagerly for Durga Puja throughout the year and try to bring good and fresh ideas for the spectators.
